The Old Mill House offers the ideal situation for those interested in wildlife, with Otters and an impressive list of birds are regular visitors to the grounds. The mill itself was the subject of RSPB film “Swallows at the Mill” and part of a BBC nature programme by Sir Peter Scott. The world renowned RSPB site of Minsmere and Havagate Island are both nearby.

The Mill is an artists’ haven and has inspired many a famous artist throughout the years, including the owner Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy M.B.E. Chinwe’s accolades include painting HM Queen Elizabeth II, a Commonwealth portrait commission to mark the Golden Jubilee in 2002. Many of the rooms are hung with work by Chinwe, which are for sale.

Visitors may not wish to leave the grounds, however the beautiful Suffolk Heritage coast is only 10 miles away where Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings with famous concert hall. The charming market towns of Wickham Market, Framlingham with its 12th-century castle and Woodbridge are 1, 6 and 4 miles respectively, providing a range of individual shops, pubs and restaurants. National Trust property at Sutton Hoo, ancient burial ground is 6 miles. Pub 1 mile.

There are also excellent family based entertainment, with Valley Farm Riding and Carriage School and Easton Farm Park right on the doorstep. For gardeners there are a number of specialist nurseries in the area including Blooms of Bressingham, Woottens of Wenhaston and the delightful Walled Garden near Saxmundham. The Cathedral city of Norwich with it’s Castle Museum and historic medieval streets is just over an hour away and the ancient wool town of Lavenham with 16th C timber framed buildings is well worth a visit.
